Tu Lan caves - near Phong Nha Ke Bang national park

Quang Binh province is famous for the splendid cave system, typically as the caves in Phong Nha Ke Bang national park, but will be lacking if not to mention Tu Lan cave system with about 8 different magical caves, which were discovered in 2009, located in Tan Hoa village, Minh Hoa district, about 70km northwest from Phong Nha Ke Bang national park.

Tan Hoa village is located in a vast valley, surrounded by the majestic limestone mountains which hidden inside is Tu Lan caves. The scenery here is embellished by soft winding springs, like a beautiful painting. When the flood season, the water rising and flooded all around areas, turning this valley become a bay between the green forest.

Unlike the caves in Phong Nha Ke Bang national park, Tu Lan caves lie quite low, surrounded by many rivers and streams which always full of water. The flow wriggled between the vast unspoiled jungle, sometimes through the cave, then disappear in a mysterious darkness.

In addition, this land also owns the biodiversity, with hundred species of flora and fauna endemic which living on the limestone mountain. And inside Tu Lan cave also has a special fish species, tiny as Pinkie, swim upstream, and capable of clinging to the cliffs right on the strong water flowing.


Journey of exploring Tu Lan caves

- To reach Tu Lan caves, you have to cross the forests, fording many streams, a few times swimming through the dark cave... Therefore, you will be fully prepared with forest trekking equipment such as dedicated backpacks, caps mounted LEDs, rock climbing gloves, rope for hangs down the cave...

- During Tu Lan caves journey, you will be camping beside the romantic lake with colorful butterflies everywhere. Then join making the local food with the most primitive utensils. This gives you the feeling like back to primitive life, beside the flickering fire and barbecue between the jungle.

Exploring Tu Lan caves is not an easy tour, and currently there is only one route to the cave. Therefore, at the difficult or risky places, despite being reinforced with ladders, wooden planks... but to overcome, still depends on the skill of each member and collaboration as a team. However, due to these difficulties that the journey even more attractive with many vivid experiences.
