Danang makes a great base for day trips. Perched on the western bank of the Han River, the city is part of a long thin peninsula with 150km of seacoast.

Stroll along the Han riverfront and gleaming new modernist hotels, apartments and restaurants are emerging. And the most of coastal strip has been set aside for five-star hotel developments.

Danang is also an ancient land, closely related with the Sa Huynh cultural traditions. Many imposing, palaces, towers, temples, citadels and ramparts, the vestiges are still to be seen in Cham Museum.

My Khe is the most popular beach in Da Nang. It is a superb beach, with fine white sand and clear water. My Khe is patrolled by Da Nang Lifesaving Association and full of local life. Especially at the day’s end, when the locals flock to the shores for swimming and beach sports such as soccer and volleyball.

Founded in 1915, Cham Museum Danang with a large collection of Cham artefacts, has nearly 500 pieces on display including Altars, Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu - all dating from the 5th to 15th centuries. The sculptures are arranged by period, which are in turn named after the geographic regions where the sculptures were found. Note the masterpiece Tra Kieu altar of the late 7th century, with carved scenes telling the story of the Asian epic Ramayana.

Danang is located in the zone of typical tropical monsoon. There are two seasons:
